Memories of Dark Years
Memories of Dark Years, draws inspiration from ancient traditions and destructive cultures, underscoring humanity’s long history of cruelty across generation. While the darkness of these times eventually fade, the memories linger in our collective consciousness, etched into our lives. My pieces narrate these stories in a surrealistic style, addressing the brutality of politicians and rulers who wage wars and force innocent people, including children to flee their homelands in search of refuge. The series explores the harsh realities of child marriage, where underage girls are coerced into marriage they do not choose. It is also about the religious regimes which misuse faith to justify conquest and violence in the name of God. I reflects on the struggles of women throughout the history who have been deprived of education, singing and dancing and they continue to fight for their own rights. These injustices are perpetuated by societal complicity, and they lead to lives filled with suffering, even tragically culminating in suicide or death for some. Crimes that unknowingly committed by many families around the world every day.
Through this project, I aim to depict these harsh realities by focusing on the intricate details of contemporary everyday life, incorporating elements such as Eastern jewelry, masks, makeup tools, Iranian textiles, and other feminine motifs. My works give voice to those silenced by oppression and invite viewers to confront these brutal truths.
