The Whisper of Bodies
Jewelry plays a significant role in my pieces either in form of shaping my canvas or painting of jewelry pieces. It symbolizes my rich cultural heritage, symbolic meanings and personal expression. In my project titled The Whisper of Bodies, I tried to make pieces that would dance around the body of women, merging the realms of painting and jewelry, 2D and 3D, public and private. They are imaginary characters from my paintings which become the subjects of jewelry pieces, such that the story can be worn and carried on the body. Jewelry adorned with symbols of strength and bravery can serve as visual reminders of the resilience and determination of Iranian women in their fight for equality and freedom. It also serves as a form of visible protest, allowing women to assert their identity and values in a society that may seek to suppress them. By proudly wearing these symbols, women can challenge societal norms and expectations, asserting their right to autonomy and freedom.
